Tt’s a perfect blend of to-go orders, a creative menu and quality customer service. The Floral Fox Coffee Co. is a mobile coffee trailer based in Lorain County.
Owner Kaitlin Fisher, a Navy veteran, lived in Washington when she got out of the military and worked as a barista at a popular coffee shop. She also went to school for sports medicine and worked as a CrossFit coach, but coffee was always at the back of her mind.
Fisher poured her heart into this new endeavor for more than a year before officially opening in April 2024.
“Mobile was getting really popular, and I thought this was perfect because I could get my toes wet with it,” Fisher says. “With Floral Fox, I’ve created this community of people who all enjoy coffee. I’m learning everyone and their stories and seeing friends.”
What’s Brewing
High-quality offerings and customer service top the ingredient list when it comes to what makes the business so special.
“Being in the military, you have the mindset that the quality of your work and what you’re doing is super important, and that is passed down now into coffee as before it was in my deployment,” Fisher says.
Fisher adds that being a mom also allows her to understand how much a cup of coffee can mean to someone.
“I know that when I go get a cup of coffee, it’s more than just getting a drink — it’s a little ‘me time’ or my special treat,” Fisher says.
The Floral Fox’s coffee hails from Washington, and the maple syrup and honey in the drinks are locally sourced. All of the Floral Fox’s syrups are gluten free and vegan.
“I don’t want to just sugar bomb people,” Fisher says. “I want them to be able to taste the coffee but also have the really good flavors.”
The location for the mobile shop may change between local churches and neighborhoods, but mostly, Fisher parks at Miller’s Apple Hill. During the school year, she parks there on Thursdays and Fridays from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. She notes that hours may vary, and the schedule for the week is posted every Monday.
More Than a Name
The name itself is a combination of everything Fisher loves.
“I just love anything floral and foxes. When I had my first son I was really drawn to foxes,” Fisher says. “One day, I was driving, and ‘floral fox’ just popped into my head. I wanted to put everything I love into one little thing.”
For those who have yet to experience the Floral Fox’s coffee, Fisher encourages them to stop by.
“If you’re ever driving past it, but it’s a little out of your comfort zone, just give it a try,” Fisher says. “I think people would be really surprised at how much they like it.”
